Step Into The Studio
I’m Torie Gauder, a glass artist based in Columbus, Ohio, and the founder of the woman-owned studio Torie Gauder Glass, devoted to the expressive beauty of hand-blown glass.
For over a decade, I’ve worked with fire, breath, and motion—drawn to the way molten glass captures both stillness and transformation. Inspired by the flowing lines of Art Nouveau and the quiet elegance of the natural world, I create sculptural works that reflect emotion through form, light, and color.
Glass is a living material—it demands presence, patience, and intuition. No two moments in the studio are alike, and no two pieces are ever the same. That’s what I love most: the alchemy of it. The way it holds memory, movement, and meaning in a single curve or ripple of light.
Whether I’m shaping a new collection or crafting a custom commission, my intention is always the same—to make work that resonates. Pieces that invite reflection, bring beauty into everyday spaces, and feel deeply personal to the people who work and live with them.
This studio is my way of offering that invitation, into a world of handmade glass that speaks in curves, color, and quiet joy.
Studio Values
Driven By Expression
Each piece begins with a spark—an emotion, a memory, a moment worth honoring and remembering. I shape glass not just with tools, but with intention—so the final work speaks in color, rhythm, and quiet resonance. Whether coaxing color to bloom like petals or tracing lines that echo unseen rhythms, my work is a translation of feeling into material.
Rooted in Story
I shape each piece with fire and intention, knowing it will carry the story of its making—and gather new meaning in the life it enters. Glass holds memory. It remembers the heat, the timing, and the decisions made in its shaping. I create with the belief that art doesn't end when it’s finished; it begins when it’s held and loved.
Honoring the Handmade
In a world of mass production, I return to tradition. My studio practice is centered on breath, fire, and the human hand. No machines. No shortcuts. Just the raw, unpredictable magic of glass shaped through time-honored techniques. Each piece carries the marks of the process—slight variations, a sense of motion, a soul.
